SDSSM families came together to celebrate the holidays once again at our Winter Festival Concert. Performances featured students of all levels, from our Pre-Twinkle students through our Suzuki Chamber Orchestra students. The program featured a variety of Holiday tunes and classical repertoire with families joining afterwards for our traditional holiday potluck. |
Chamber Community Concert at Encinitas LibraryOctober 20, 2024
San Diego Suzuki School Chamber Orchestra students and other SDSSM students returned to the beautiful Encinitas library this fall for another community concert to celebrate Halloween! Chamber Orchestra students opened the concert with a variety of music, including the Happy Farmer Halloween Story and Dance Macabre, and were joined by the other students while adding some spooky sound effects and twists to classic Suzuki pieces. |
Day of Music at Jacobs Music CenterSeptember 29, 2024
Students performed in the Lobby and on stage at the newly renovated Jacobs Music Center in downtown San Diego. Getting to play on the same stage as professional musicians was a fantastic opportunity for our students! We are super excited to be a corporate partner with the San Diego Symphony and grateful for this incredible experience. |
La Jolla Music society community dayMay 11, 2024
Students performed in the courtyard of the Conrad in our second annual collaboration with the La Jolla Music Society for their Community Day celebration. We are thrilled to be one of their community partners and grateful for their support of our program and 501(c)3 non-profit. May the 4th ConcertMay 4, 2024
On May the fourth, at the JCC concert hall, students and families enjoyed a Suzuki tradition, a play-down concert. Beginning with upper levels, students performed Suzuki repertoire, adding levels, until everyone joined in for Twinkle! After the play-down performance we headed to the local playground for donut holes and play-time. This was a wonderful community building gathering for the school. |
Chamber orchestra and group concertMarch 16, 2024
San Diego Suzuki School Chamber Orchestra students and other school students delighted the Encinitas library audience with Irish and Rainbow themed selections this St. Patrick's Day. Groups showcased Irish tunes and the SDSCO played a beautiful arrangement of over the rainbow in the community room overlooking the Pacific Ocean. |
RB Library discovery concert seriesFebruary 11, 2024
SDSSM students were invited to perform by the RB Library Discovery Concert Series. Students performed a custom arrangement of a traditional Chinese piece in celebration of Lunar New Year, led by Ms. FangFang Li. Many other pieces were featured in the cello and violin showcases. RB Library Discovery Concert Series Chair Ms. Ulli Reiner wrote, "It was an absolute delight to see the students and their families give such tremendous support to such a wonderful concert and program. The community members who regularly attend our concerts were very impressed with the children and their performances." |

SDSSM families gathered to spread holiday cheer at our annual Winter Festival Concert. Performances featured individual classes from Pre-Twinkle students through our Suzuki Chamber Orchestra featuring Holiday tunes and classical repertoire. Over 300 people joined in the potluck afterwards in the banquet room, a SDSSM first and new tradition! |
San Diego symphony performance at the california arts festival,November 5, 2023
Students had the amazing experience of performing with San Diego Symphony musicians at the California Festival Family and Community Day. The performance was at the beautiful Rady Shell and Jacobs park in downtown San Diego by the bay. Students had a full day experiencing a rehearsal with the symphony and time backstage, as well as the opportunity to hear the SD Symphony family concert afterwards, including a favorite, Peter and the Wolf. This was a memorable occasion for everyone involved! |

We had fun celebrating Father's Day at the SD County fair with our performance of Suzuki, Classical and Americana favorites including fiddle tunes and our national anthem. After the concert students and parents, as well as teachers, enjoyed the yummy food, thrilling rides and exhibitions. We have performed at the county fair almost every year since 2005 so we were very excited to be back post Covid. |

Our Suzuki Chamber Orchestra, chamber quartets and ensembles, and cello choir enjoyed performing for residents of our local senior living facility. The seniors loved the music, sometimes singing along and even conducting from the audience! After the performances the students distributed handmade cards to the residents celebrating Spring. |

We were honored to collaborate with San Diego Civic Organist Raul Prieto Ramírez at Balboa Park. The students and teachers enjoyed the hospitality of the Spreckles Organ Society including a behind the scenes tour of the largest outdoor organ in the country--while it was being played! We were in awe playing our Suzuki repertoire with the organ and especially amazed by Mr. Ramírez's solo performances! |
